Newsletter Update - 25/09/23
Hi, its been a crazy month or so since my last update, but I wanted to give a little update on what I’ve been doing and learning and the preparations happening for the students arriving!
Leadership Training
We finished training mid September. The final couple weeks we covered topics such as how missions can impact different spheres of society, we had teachings on our own personal walk with God and how to stay rooted in this busy season. We looked at how to effectively disciple onto the Lord and help our students form spiritual foundations as well as some practicals such as helping students through trauma, finding them the correct help and how to effectively confront.
We read another book called ‘The Other Half of Church’ by Jim Wilder and Michel Hendricks. The book was really interesting as it had a whole new take on the best way to grow and become more christlike in our habits - its worth the read!
Leadership Track was such an amazing experience! It’s been amazing to learn so much about how to lead and disciple well and soon get the chance to put that into practice. Classes have been so good but I’ve really seen the benefit of being surrounded by people I respect as leaders and can learn from, being able to learn and grow together has been so cool and I’m so excited to go into this next season of staffing with these amazing men and women!
Students
The students will be arriving on the 28th and so this past week we’ve been very busy as a staff team preparing everything in time for arrival day. We’ve been able to get a classroom in the new building on campus called the ‘Lokahi Centre’. ‘Lokahi’ is a Hawaiian word meaning ‘unity’ and so that is the vision behind this new centre, that it would be a place of unity for the campus and we as Endeavor are blessed to be the first DTS to use it. We also got to reach out and contact all of the students, check in and pray for them and see how they are doing with preparations for coming to DTS and answer any questions they had.
We prayed over all the rooms. The staff living on campus are in rooms with the students and so I will be in a room with 9 students and we prayed over all the girls and which rooms they should be going in and the girls that will be in my room are: Phoebe, Megan, Madison, Kirah and River (from the US), Hayley (from New Zealand), Tiana (from Canada), Leena (from Finland) and Madeleine (from Norway) and me! All the on-campus staff girls prayed over the 62 girl students and those were the 9 girls we felt should be in my room. We also have girl staff living off campus and of those girls 2 of them (Abby and Maddie) will be overseeing my room of girls with me.
Coming Weeks
The students will arrive on Thursday the 28th, orientation will be that Friday and class will start the following Monday which will give them time to adjust before class starts. One of the girls in my room will be arriving Wednesday night and so I am preparing the room for her before she gets here as well as the rest of the girls. I’m having so much fun preparing and anticipating the girls arriving and being able to walk with the girls in my room more closely and get to know them and see the transformation in them throughout Lecture Phase. As for outreach we don’t yet have dates for when the students will find out however I do know where I will be going and who I will be leading with…
In terms of prayer requests; please pray for the girls in my room. Be praying that they would have deep revelations of who God is and create a deeper relationship with Him. Also be praying for my outreach team. Pray that God will anoint us and prepare us for what is in store for us as we are sent to the nations. Also please be praying for financial provision! I am blessed to be having all my monthly payments completely covered by my monthly support however I am still in need of £3000 ($3600) for outreach which will begin December 16th and I will need to have paid it in full by then. Please be praying to see if God is putting it on your heart to support me for outreach.
